Seconds later I remember I’m put my daypack on my bed. I stand up, look and it’s gone, my day pack has fucking gone.

Oh my goodness, that sucks. I hope you didn’t have anything too valuable in there. There is simply nothing worse than that as it leaves you feeling so helpless and vulnerable. Awful.

This was 6 years ago now but it was a real pain. Fortunately, I had my passport, tickets, bank cards and money in my money belt, but I lost my camera (including a film of photos of Amritsar and Varanasi), guidebook, reading book, sunscreen, torch and loads of other bits and pieces that weren’t that expensive but really useful and important to me, including photos of friends, family and home. You live and learn as they say, but you still feel like a daft twat.
