I’ve been using http://www.proxy-anywhere.com which although a bit slow gets you on facebook.  You get a free 10 minute trial then you have to pay.  But if you delete your cookies you can can have as many free trials as you want :D

type in hotspot shield into google to use, id probably not use it on my own computer though. As it damages the safety of things.

http://www.12vpn.com was great for a good vpn.I paid $30 for the year though.

I am planning on traveling around China later this year. I appreciate this is a REALLY old thread but I couldn’t see anywhere else to post it.

I assume the situation with blocked sites hasn’t got any better? I am trying to find a reliable VPN but I am struggling with all the different ones and reviews. There seem to be tons out there https://securethoughts.com/vpn-review/  and http://lifehacker.com/this-massive-vpn-comparison-spreadsheet-helps-you-choos-1764427219

Anyone got any newer recommendations? I really don’t want to be cut off the whole time I’m there.

Have a look at this site, it gives an example of a few VPN hosting websites you can use:

We use a free browser called http://www.getcocoon.com. Gives the same access as a vpn as well as a bunch of other security/privacy stuff. Browser only works for laptops though, I think mobile is coming soon. Works well, and its free, which is nice!
