KGB are offering the 120-hour online course PLUS a lesson plan training pack for just £19.00

I can’t see anything as cheap as this coming up for a while so I just thought I’d post it and give y’all a heads up incase you’re interested smile

Hi grin

I would definitely ask what is included in the price as it is incredibly affordable. You can check out any reviews of TEFL programs here:

Hope it helps and all the best with your course and teaching English career!

DON’T BOTHER WITH ONLINE TEFL COURSES. THEY ARE COMPLETELY USELESS AND OFFER NOTHING THAT YOU CAN’T FIND YOURSELF ON GOOGLE.

I’ve said this many times on here and given plenty of reasons not to do it, but you’ll have to search yourself if you want to read it as I can’t really be bothered going through this again.

The main point is that a TEFL course is totally useless unless you have real face-to-face training and you get real classroom experience.

You are throwing your money away doing this.

Mate… you are white-skinned and you’re a native English speaker. You would have got the job anyway and winged it just as effectively I’m sure!

To be fair Lunny mate for the sake of 20 quid you cant go wrong, its something extra on my cv and it cost me less than a night out, I dont think it would of been worth paying 4-500 quid for but 20 quid is peanuts, and if it gets me a job over the next guy then its money well spent, just thought I’d share it for people who were interested in doing an online course and didnt have the money to pay full price

I get your point, but it depends where you’re looking for a job.

In China it wouldn’t matter at all if you had that or not. Actually most places.

Any employer that cares about you having a TEFL will want a qualification that included face-to-face training.

On the topic of stuff being good for the CV, do any of you guys use Coursera at all?

It’s a website full of free online courses, run and accredited by universities (mostly by lecturers and professors from major US unis). Some of the courses come with verified certificates of qualification, which might be useful for those of you looking to bolster your CVs. smile

I’ve started 2 courses, but sadly they’ve both fallen at crazy busy times in my life, and I didn’t manage to see either through to the end. That said, in my case, I enjoyed the material and they were more to satisfy my own nerdy interests and curiosities than to give me any kind of competitive advantage, so I’m not particularly fussed about not getting the qualifications. It’s definitely something I want to do more of though! raspberry

If online courses were such a waste of money why would Ivy league schools be offering them? Why would CELTA offer one? Most in-class courses only offer 6 hours of teacher assisted in-class training, which in many courses is often held in a pseudo class.

And what are in-class and online classes made of? Information.
