Interns on the South Africa Environmental Internship, based in in Balule Game Reserve at Kruger National Park, work closely with Field Staff and Reserve Managers to contribute toward ongoing research for the Panthera Predator Monitoring Project and Biodiversity Conservation Research Projects. Interns can expect to additionally receive essential training that relates to bush ecology, species identification, animal behaviour, tracking, navigation, GPS and GIS techniques.
Students currently studying in relevant areas of interest (i.e. conservation & wildlife, environmental & natural sciences, biology & botany) may – depending on their skills and activities which are on-going – be assigned to specific tasks related to practical components of their studies.
The South Africa Environmental Internship program in Balule Game Reserve at Kruger National Park offers intake dates for new interns on the 1st and 15th of each month. Available durations are 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 10 weeks and 12 weeks. O.R. Tambo International Airport in Johannesburg – JNB – is the international gateway, from where interns connect onto a further domestic flight to Hoedspruit Airport (HDS), which is located adjacent to the Kruger National Park.
