While women’s empowerment programs in Costa Rica involve tasks related to microfinance and education, there is additionally scope to promote awareness about important issues such as empowerment, bullying, domestic violence, sexual and emotional health for women. This may involve group counselling sessions, workshops, or outreach programs to schools.
An understanding of intermediate Spanish is required for this internship program. All interns who are not yet intermediate – fluent Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to take Spanish language lessons in addition to their internship activities.
Intake dates for new interns are typically offered twice a month. The minimum duration requirement for Microfinance / Women’s Empowerment internship placements is a commitment of at least 4 weeks.
