What does a Music teacher do at camp?
From an acoustic ballad round the campfire to a full orchestral symphony – music activities can vary quite a lot at camp. Camps will be looking for staff to specialise in individual instruments as well as DJs, AV technicians and camp radio hosts. Music at camp is a dynamic and exciting department, it’s definitely not quiet.
For the majority, music sessions will consist of small group sessions learning songs and techniques on either the guitar or piano. These sessions will run between mornings and afternoons but music teachers will likely also play a bigger part in camp-wide activities, whether being the musical director for the theatre department or your very own rock show.
You should bring enthusiasm and talent. In the other corner, as the camp DJ, you should be able to confidently cut and blend music, helping teach the campers to lay their own tracks either on the decks or digitally. It’s all about making fun music and making music fun.
Why should I teach music at camp?
