London’s Spectacular Monuments

Updated 2 years, 1 Month ago

London is home to several historical and cultural monuments which makes it one of the charming cities of this world. I have always admired the architectural wonders like London Bridge, Hampton Court of Palace, Big Ben, etc.

One of my all-time favourite wonders of London is the St. John’s Smith Square which is located outside the Westminster Abbey and House of Parliaments. Situated in the square’s centre is the church which was almost destroyed during the Blitz. After being renovated it became London’s most celebrated venue for classical and choir music. I have loved seeing the events here which are held all year round.

Cenotaph Whitehall is a memorial built in honour of the death of soldiers killed in war. Each Remembrance Sunday several people throng the memorial to pay their respects to the fallen heroes. It is a very humbling experience and something which makes you realise the importance of their sacrifice.

Somerset House is another impressive monument with historical value. The public access to the monuments here was made available in 2000 after refurbishing with new galleries. I really liked the ambiance of the place. There is also a huge courtyard here where events like opera, theatre, etc are hosted.

Tower of London is another must –see for a tourist in London. The scene of highly impressive historical events of England; the structure saw the execution of three queens, and was also the site where Queen Elizabeth I was imprisoned. One of my personal favourite structures of London, the Tower has served several roles in the country’s history- as a palace, a fortress, a prison, arsenal mint and jewel house.

The Kensington Palace will give you a glance into the glamorous lives of the courtiers and Queens of 17th and 18th century. There are also paintings of Royal collection at display. I personally liked the exhibitions on Queen Victoria’s life here. The Serpentine Gallery here is a modern art gallery which has on display an amazing contemporary art collection. The entry here is free for all.

After visiting these tourist spots, you can unwind by visiting website of various escort agencies available in London. It goes without saying that as a city London is fantastic that does have something in store for everyone. So it goes without saying that make your vacation more eventful by using these services. One can say that London with its charm will simply mesmerise you and leave you asking for more.
