After a long flight from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg and Johannesburg to Perth I finally arrived still feeling hung-over from the previous night(s)!! Staying at the Underground backpackers which were a lovely hostel, really helpful friendly staff and a nice bar and swimming pool.

Didn’t do a great deal in Perth but really loved my time there, it’s not a massive city but is really laid back and so easy to find you way around with loads off cool bars and cafes, oh and lots more women to men, which always makes a pleasant change!!.

One of the main things I did when in Perth was a day trip with Paul to Rottnest Island which is just off the coast of Perth. Its a 45 minute ferry ride where you cab hire a bike or catch a bus to drop you off at various deserted beaches along the way, no cars are allowed on the island. While at Rottnest Island we hired a little glass bottomed boat where you could see all the pretty tropical fish swimming underneath you, which was really cool!!

The other main activity I did in Perth was wine and cheese tasting On Australia day!! Went to four different wineries around the Swan Valley/Margaret River region all were lovely especially the Whites called Chien and another I cant spell starting with a V. After the wine and cheese we were taken for a complimentary beer at a nearby pub, finished the tour off superbly!!

As it was Oz day, everywhere was busy and they had a massive firework show, which was so much better than the shows at Christchurch Park in Ipswich!! After the fireworks we went to a club called Black Bettys where we had VIP access and 2 hours off free booze and me being me I wasnt going to let that go to waste so 4 or 5 pints off Toooys beer and a bottle off champers later the dancing and general making a fool yourself started!! By the end off the night everyone looked rather worse for wear and all I remember is singing Love me Tender by Elvis walking home with Louise and Tammy and some other guy who ran another backpacker place, thinking how much my head was going to hurt the next day, and I was right it bloody well did!!

Lots off lovely beaches in Perth went to Cotlesloe for the day and that was a lovely beach lots off cool waves to play in. Other days in Perth were spent recovering from hangovers, kicking the girl’s ass at Monopoly and reading “The Vanished man” by Jeffrey Deaver a fantastic book oh and shopping.

Shopping in Perth was fantastic bought three wicked new the shirts for $22 about 8 pounds and a new mobile for $39 which came with $30 off credit and 60 free text messages, so $9 or 3 pounds for a sim card a new handset bargain!!!

Really wish I had more time to spend in Perth as it was lovely would definitely like to come back……maybe for the next Ashes in Oz!!!!

Next update from New Zealand probably in Wellington where I shall meet up with Jas
