Tokyo, Hong Kong

Headed back to Tokyo to spend my last couple of days in Japan. Headed for the Shinjuku and Shibuya districts. Lots of shops. Visited one shrine deep in the woods. Lots of small children in traditional costumes there. Also had a wedding taking place, but still allowed to wander round.

Then flew to Hong Kong. Love this place especially by night. First night I just crashed at my hotel. Next morning went down Nathan Street and visited the markets. Got so many offers for tailor-made suits. Had to point out that I dont really wear suits and that I certainly didnt want one right then!

Sat and watched the sunset over the harbour in the evening. Then watched the “symphony of lights” display they put on after dark. Quite cool, but wasnt as good as I was expecting given all the hype about it. Commentary was in a language I can barely pronounce, let alone spell!

Yesterday, I headed up the peak tram to see the views over the harbour. It was quite misty so I couldnt really see much of the Kowloon side of the harbour. Had a walk round the peak, some good views. Also, got the star ferry across the harbour. In the evening, headed out with 5 guys from my hostel to a bar.

Today, I took the train to Lantau Island, then took the scariest 50 minute bus journey to see the big Buddha. At times I thought we were going to have to get out and push the bus up the hill. It really sounded like it was going to stop, or roll back down the hill. The Buddha was quite impresive but not worth 4 hours round trip travelling.
