Sydney, Hobart

Managed to meet up with Darren and Andrew so went for a few drinks with them to catch up. Not that a whole lot had happened in those couple of days!

Next day, spent the day sorting out our Christmas plans. Have bought a ticket for a 4 1/2 hr Sydney Harbour boat cruise on Christmas Eve. Decided not to get a ticket for Bondi on Christmas Day. The ticket would have given us entry into “The Cage” with DJ’s and the only area of the beach you are allowed to drink on, but we have decided to head to the rest of the beach for free and to chance it with the alcohol cleaverly disguised in a coke bottle! Have decided to spend New Year at the Harbour watching the fireworks, having a picnic rather than going into an expensive club as it will be such a novelty to be able to be outside yet warm.

Yesterday, we went to the Theatre Royal to buy tickets for Dirty Dancing the musical, the world premiere staring Libby Kennedy from Neighbours. Going on 21st December and sitting 5 rows from the front. It was a little out of the days budget, but we justifying it as an early Christmas present to ourselves. Got a group of 8 of us going with others probably meeting us down there but sitting elsewhere. Then I went to Darling Harbour to get the Spirit of Tasmania ferry to Devonport. Boat journey takes 21 hours. Dinner was an all-you-can-eat buffet, which would have been better appreciated if the boat wasnt swaying. Lost my appetite a bit.

This morning, had an all-you-can-eat buffet breakfast and made the most of it as the sea was calmer. Was going to sort out my bus ticket from Devonport to Hobart when my roommate Di said she had friends on the boat also going to Hobart who would give me a lift. Arrived in Hobart and got dropped right to my hostel door by Barbara and Peter. Very scenic island and a great place to go to get away from the big cities Ive spent a lot of time in so far.
