I’m not a city slicker, but…

I have to say that I’m surprised at how much I’ve been blown away by Santiago. Not in an “oh my God, this place is amazing” way, but in a subtle, mysterious kind of way. I’ve been charmed by the gentle and incredibly helpful nature of the people, not just in Santiago but in the whole of Chile, and the city itself is quietly beautiful. It seems to me that Santiago’s physical state perfectly matches its mental state!

Last night I took the funicular (cable car) up to the top of Cerro San Cristóbal with Sarah and Matt, which gave us spectacular views over the city as the sun was setting. We just stood there enthralled for ages! It was the perfect way to end my few days in Santiago.

I leave for La Serena today, so let’s hope it’ll be as good as Santiago!
