horray for hollywood

We made our first trip- were in LA hollywood, usa. :D
After a teery goodbye  at heathrow we set out on the plane. All went to plan, the flight went quite quick as virgin planes played some decent films. so we get to our seat and who is sat next to us but Josie Darby (as in children's tv presenter) so start talking to her, then we realise Darren's tray table is broken so the steward moves us to the front block -ie more leg room!!!
After landing at sunny LA we get on a shuttle bus to our hostel - USA hostel hollywood - basic rooms etc but dead friendly staff and helpful too.
After a good night sleep we set off early for UNIVERSAL STUDIOS (fri 4th march) we get there just before it opens so do the tourist thing and take loads of pics.
The day was fantastic, filled with much fun and cheesy-ness!!! As the weather planned rain (which it definetly did deliver - it poured) we got to test out our water proof gear, which luckily worked and did keep us dry. The weather didn't really dampen our spirits as they gave out free hot chocolate - yum and all the rides are indoors so you stay dry anyway.
All the rides were really good. The mummy rollercoaster (which we went on 3 times) really made your stomach turn but great and as it was raining the Jurrasic Park water flume was great fun as a bit more water on us made no real difference.
I'd definetly recommend the trip for anyone who likes films and theme parks, but the rides are more like shows than rides so if you want scary rollercoasters maybe give it a pass.
Day 2 - we woke up a bit later, helped ourselves to the free pancakes at the hostel then went on search of our favourite stars on the walk of fame. Also visited the chinese theatre and grabbed a smoothie and pizza - as american's do.
Anyway were off to Fiji tonight - need to get a tan. So next report will be from there.
