11-14th June Farewell to Australia

Hi again
I have come to an end of my time in Australia. It has been an amazing time. But first ill tell you off my last few days.

11th – We arrived in Canberra (the capitial) and gosh it was raining!!! Still it meant we put our water proof gear to the test and we headed to the New Parliment for a free guided tour and walked around the marbled floors and entered parliment and the senate – they had chairs worth $2000 dollars – it’s good to see where Aussie’s money goes!! Afterwards we headed to the National Gallery and had a wander around all the exhibitions that were free, we even visited Kylie Minogue’s exhibition of all her awards costumes etc and saw her famous gold hot pants from the spinning around video!

12th It didn’t rain!!! yeah so we travelled across the bridge into the city centre and headed to the war memorial and the National Museum for the day. In the war memorial I even found 2 Hallam’s so I said a quick prayer. The building itself is fantastic it is situated on Anzac Parade so we walked the Anzac walk (well part of it) and looked at loads of statue’s surrounding the path. The National Museum is a weird shaped building. It tells the story of the land, sea and people of Australia and was interesting for a wander around. The best part was a revolving cinema/theartre show.

During our time in Canberra we stayed at Victor Lodge – which is one of the best hostels we have stayed in. We once agin had the dorm to ourselves and the price included breakfast, and not like just pancakes it included fruit, cereal, toast, tea and coffee it was fantastic. If anyone goes to Canberra stay here – it is family run and they were so helpful.

13th – we headed back to Sydney. Were staying in Wood duck Inn which is ok, we had a cheaop accomodation voucher but it isn’t the nicest of places. We decided to walk over the harbour bridge as we hadn’t done that first time. We also visited Luna Theme park – a bit like southsea. In the evening we headed to Star bucks for one last hot chocolate in Aus then had an early night.

14th – our last day in Australia – we checked our emails and swapped our books etc and then this afternoon we are going to chill at the Harbour while Darren draws the opera house and bridge. the weather is gorgeous and sums up our time in Aus.

For me my highlights have been:
😀 Seeing the Australian Ballet at the Opera House, and also at Melbourne.
😀 Getting a kiss form a Dolphin at the Pet Porpoise Pool in Coffs Harbour.
😀 The night life in Brisbane – meeting Mini form Uni.
😀 Fraser Island 4WD.
😀 The Whitsundays, snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef, Whithaven beach and sunsets.

All other things we have done are just as good but you must have your treasured moments and mine are those above. Next time I email will be in Thailand – bit scared about going but I’m sure ill be fine once I’m there.
Love ya all loads
