Bring out your inner child!!!
Ever since I was a little girl it has always been a dream of mine to go to Disney land, so with my trip to LA planned it was a perfect opportunity to go to the place “Where dreams really do come true”
As soon as we walked through the gates the magic started, the hairs on the back of my neck stood on end as I walked up the Main Street with the wonderful fairy tale place in my sights, it really was an amazing feeling to be in Disney land!!
With so much to see and do it is hard to know where to start your journey but thankfully Disney is laid out by different zones for example, Frontier Land, The magic Kingdom etc so you can easily go from one to another without missing anything out.
A lot of people think that Disney is just for kids but it really isn’t, all of the rides where designed so that adults can also join in as well, we learned that Walt Disney wanted it to be a place for everyone to enjoy, and to share the delights with their children. I won’t talk about all the rides as there are so many to go on but I will tell you about my favorite rides.
Defiantly one of the highlights for me was the ride ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ this ride was the inspiration for the film starring Johnny Deep and you can see why, it is a truly magical ride with so much detail and enjoyment. The manikins are so life like I really thought Captain John Sparrow was going to com to life at one point.
Space Mountain is also amazing, a roller costar in the pitch black apart from hundreds of tiny lights that would have you believe you where in space. It is really disorientating as you have no idea which direction you are traveling in, backwards, forwards, upside but that all adds to the excitement.
Splash Mountain is also amazing from the outside it looks like a log flume but it is so much more than that. This is a truly brilliant ride as you get to travel through the mountain and see singing and dancing animals performing for you and telling a story along the way.
To make all your dreams come true make sure you stop by Mickey’s House in Toon Town! You can walk through Mickey’s house and then at the end you get a chance to meet him yourself and pose for a picture or two with him! This was so exciting to actually get to meet Mickey himself! Also through out the park you will see over characters so always have your camera handy!
Something you truly cannot miss out on is the “Parade of Dreams” this is on twice daily at 3.30pm and 6.30pm, we watched in pure bliss as all our favorite characters danced and sang down the Main Street! My advice is getting a space before the parade starts so that you can get a good spot! I only got to see it once as we had to leave early and get our coach but I would say it is worth watching it twice, with the later parade you also get fireworks at the end over the Fairy Tale palace which I bet is pretty magical.
The Parade covers all Disney favorites including, Alice in wonderland, The Lion King, Beauty & the Beast, Mickey and Minnie and so much more.
There are many different passes you can buy depending on how much time you have for your visit, we could only spare a day and I was surprised to find that it was actually quite cheap just $56 for a day pass. We paid about $100 in total each as we had to do a coach tour to get their and back but if you have your own transport or don’t mind changing several times on the trains you can get their a lot cheaper. I would advise that you check the website for offers etc and that you book in advance so that you don’t have to queue so long when you arrive.Overall Thoughts:
We went to Disney on a Sunday in November and I was surprised at how quite it was, I don’t think we queued for more than half an hour for a ride which is pretty incredible really. Obviously depending on when you are visiting this will vary but all in all the rides move fairly quickly.
The thing that struck the most about the park was the upkeep, everything is clean and tidy and well looked after, the scenery and settings for all the rides has been thought out in such detail it makes every inch a truly amazing experience.
I highly recommend this as family day out if you are visiting LA, remember even if you don’t have any children it is still a great place to visit and let the child inside come alive!!
