SE Asia 3 months…

Hey guys,

First post – be kind.

So like a lot of people I plan to travel se Asia for approximately 3 months with a close friend leaving mid February time (roughly). Need help with where to go and peoples recommendations if possible? Here’s my itinery (bear in mind, all rough and happy to change wherever needs).

Fly from London to Bangkok to start, travel straight up to Chang Mai (for the jungle, elephants, tigers etc), then journey to Laos first stop Luang Prabang then Vang Vieng and on to Vientiane. Then visit Vietnam with first stop being Hoi An then onto Ho Chi Minh City. Journey to Cambodia to visit Phnom Penh then onto sihanoukiville and finally siem reap. Then back to Thailand to the party islands – Ko Phangnan then Ko Phi Phi. Then Down to Malaysia for Kuala Lumpar then spend our last 2/3 nights in Sinapore before flying back home to London.

I understand this is incredibly ‘touristy’ and a standard backpacker route. My questions is will 3 months be enough? How long roughly should we spend in each destination? We are completely open to suggestions on where to go and where to avoid! Have I missed anywhere really obvious to visit? We both wanna party, but obviously see the culture and visit as many temples/beaches/key places as possible.

Also, how easy is it to travel from our chosen destinations – I understand bus over most borders is our best bet (uncomfortable I know).

First time for both of us backpacking so ANY advice appreciated.

Thankyou, Matt.
