San Francisco- 16th Nov- date thing not working right on this stupid thing!

As soon as they contained some of the fire and opened the 5 freeway we escaped to San Fran (380 mile). Our room was $89 per night and was ok for a motel and the people were nice. (We think they were bikers). I like the shopping here and Ste couldn’t believe how steep the roads get and liked curly wurly Lombard St. We walked to Fishermans Wharf and around Pier 39 and there were lots of nice bars and restaurants by our hotel. We had a lovely Vietnamese meal here. (Of course now we know all about Vietnamese food!) The sea lions near Pier 39 came after the 1989 earthquake and have stayed ever since- they are lovely.
The day we visited Alcatraz was foggy as it quite often is here. You couldn’t see it from the mainland or the Golden gate bridge and when we got there could barely see the water next to the island which made it more eery. It cost $26 each with an audio tour so was good value. They must of been mad to have to come here!
San Fran is ace. It has a large gay community here which i think always makes areas nicer and quite cool to live and visit. The return journey to LA was mad. The fog was so bad still we struggled to see the road- weird.
