More Brits planning to work in Australia
The strong Australian dollar appears to be drawing Brits planning a working gap year.
Figures from Tourism Australia show the number of working holiday visas granted British citizens rising by 5.4% in the 12 months to June this year. For months, the Australian dollar has been at or around its highest ever value against most other currencies. That’s been a problem for tourists but, for anyone hoping to earn in Australia and then spend in South East Asia, it’s a plus.
Tourism Australia’s General Manager for the UK and Northern Europe, Rodney Harrex, said: “The working holiday visa provides young people with the opportunity to supplement their travels with incidental work, meaning they gain life experiences and earn some cash while having an amazing extended holiday.”
