Balloon fiesta beats weather
This year’s annual Bristol Balloon Fiesta is being hailed a success after winds eased. The event, one of the UK’s top five outdoor spectacles, draws more than half a million people to parkland outside the West Country city. A special shapes ascent scheduled for Thursday had to be postponed because of high winds but later events went ahead as planned. Weekend highlights included a ‘nightglow’ when tethered balloons lit their burners in time to music. More than a hundred balloons were involved.
