Golden night at TNT Backpack Awards
It may not be the Brits or the BAFTAs but the glitz and glam has hit London once again at last night’s TNT Magazine’s Golden Backpack Awards.
The cream of the independent travel industry were out in force in the hope of scooping up a prestigious Golden Backpack Award at the event held at Shaka Zulu in London.
19 winners were announced with the awards presented by Lonely Planet’s travel editor Tom Hall.
The awards recognised tour operators, airlines, accommodation and transport providers who have shown outstanding commitment to the adventure, backpacking and youth travel market.
Big winners on the night were Contiki, who won favourite big tour operator, British Airways, who won favourite long haul airline and easyjet, who won favourite short haul airline.
Other noticeable winners were Intrepid Travel as best worldwide tour operator, Hostelling International as best hostels and Sail Croatia Adventures for favourite activity/sports tour operator.
A big surprise was Busabout, who won three awards with favourite medium-sized tour operator, favourite European tour operator and best tour itinerary.
Kevin Ellis, CEO of TNT Multimedia, said of the event: “We’re thrilled to have launched the UK version of the successful Golden Backpack Awards from Australia. This is the only dedicated awards for our market, and who better to vote than the people who genuinely go on these holidays; our readers.
“Congratulations to all winners and we can’t wait for next year’s event.”
If you could vote for your favourite travel companies who would you vote for? Have you ever used any of these travel companies and if so what did you think?
