Call for creative travellers

A gap year is the ideal opportunity to put some time into your more creative side, be it writing, photography or art. Most backpackers take photographs on their travels and many write a blog. A smaller number draw or paint some of the wonders they encounter.

If you're one of them and already planning a trip to Australia, get those creative juices flowing now and you could save yourself a bucketful of cash.

Long-standing gapyear.com partners, VisitOz are looking for a new logo, and they've teamed up with Tourism Queensland and the Youth Hostel Association to create a prize worth up to AU$5,000.

Joanna Burnet, managing director of VisitOz, said: "One lucky winner will win a life changing experience courtesy of VisitOz, Tourism Queensland and YHA. It's not an everyday occurrence that someone will win a trip to Oz for virtually nothing. Why would you not want to submit your creativity and put yourself forward as the next design guru for VisitOz?

"The winner's logo will be promoted on all VisitOz literature, on the website and on Facebook, to be seen across the world and on all Tourism Australia Portals. It really is a fantastic opportunity not only to win an amazing adventure but to add to your CV and portfolio."

The prize includes:

  • VisitOz programme
  • A National Australia Bank (NAB) back account with AU$250 as a welcome gift
  • YHA membership and three nights in their hostels
  • A Whitsunday's three day sailing trip
  • Groovy Grape Tours - a day trip around the Adelaide wine region
  • Global Gossip - a mobile phone, sim card and internet card
  • A Tourism Queensland travel pass from Melbourne to Brisbane and Hervey Bay

To enter, all you have to do is send your VisitOz logo to joanna@visitoz.org. Entries close on the 9th March 2012 and the winner will be announced during the Work Experience Travel Mart on the 13th- 17th March, 2012.

Oh, and here's the logo so you know what you're redesigning:

Good luck. And don't forget, Henry Toulouse-Lautrec, and many of the other greats, started out doing posters and ads.
