Model's mammaries madden Mexico's politicians
TV debates between presidential candidates don't usually get the pulse racing, yet a TV debate in Mexico has done exactly that after a former playboy model stole the show in a revealing white dress.
Julia Orayen, glamour-model-turned-production assistant, seized the limelight during Sunday night's televised address as she handed out cards determining the order that candidates would speak. In an otherwise faultless performance, the only mistake she made was in her dress choice - it was a dress that truly showed off her talents as a production assistant.
And the fashion faux-pas didn't go unnoticed. Former Mexican foreign minister Jorge Castaneda tweeted: "The best was the girl in white with the cleavage at the beginning."
Ms Orayen, who chose the dress from her own wardrobe, told the Cadena Tres TV network: "'It was my only choice for a long dress. I didn't think it would reveal as much or cause this much scandal."
At least one candidate was seen ogling at Orayen's posterior, while the other candidates kept abreast of the situation. Gabriel Quadri, who is the candidate of the New Alliance Party, said her appearance made him nervous.
"It is impossible not to concentrate your attention on a woman so spectacular," Quadri told MVS radio.
Mexico's Electoral Commission said the woman's revealing outfit had distracted attention from the debate, which focused on the economy and the drug-related violence in Mexico.
The commission said in a statement: "We are sorry about the production error associated with the clothing of one of the assistants during the first presidential debate and want to apologise to the citizens and the candidates for the presidency."
So, keeping in line with the focus of the story, who do you think will win Mexico's presidential election? Josefina Vazquez Mota or Enrique Pena Nieto?
