Airline calendar just too damn hot
Racy calendar criticised by Thai government for being too damn hot
Some people like boobs and bikinis, but obviously some Thai officials don't.
Thailand's low-cost carrier Nok Air have released a calendar featuring 12 models from Maxim magazine; however, it's come under heavy criticism.
Thailand's Culture Permanent Secretary Prisana Pongtatpitakkul said it's simply inappropriate to use women's bodies as a marketing tool.
"They lack the sense of social and cultural responsibility and ignore social and cultural repercussions - particularly female dignity," she told The Nation.
The calendar, shot by men's magazine Maxim, is part of Nok Air's online promotion and features models standing around planes wearing yellow bikinis, the airline's signature colour.
Nok Air chief executive Patee Sarasin brushed off the criticism and said the airline hasn't crossed the line.
He said: "The airline business has always been seen as sexy.
"Understanding the [Culture] Ministry, their reaction isn't really a surprise, however, given what the public is exposed to on a daily basis, we believe that we have not crossed the line.
"Most customers love the calendar and definitely want to own one. As of today, the calendar is becoming a hard-to-find commodity, and the requests for copies keep coming from all walks of life."
The Culture Ministry did however admit the calendar isn't breaking any laws, therefore no action will be taken against Nok Air.
Of course, this isn't the first time an airline had published a raunchy calendar... just take Ryanair as an example.
