Video: a nightmare becomes reality

Passengers have caught on video the moment an international flight was forced into an emergency landing after it was discovered that the plane door was partially open.

The Jin Air flight was carrying 163 passengers to Busan, South Korea, when it was forced to turn back for Cebu, the Philippines, 40 minutes after takeoff, because one of the doors was “leaking air.”

Here’s a video of the incident, courtesy of CNN:

A gap can be seen between the door and the door frame of the Boeing 737-800 jet, large enough for the cameraman to put his hand inside. The plane was travelling approximately 10,000 feet in the air at the time.

Passengers reportedly suffered headaches and “felt pain in their ears.” Kim Jin-bae, who was aboard the flight, said “I thought I would die here because I was numb with a headache.”

Fortunately, no injuries were reported, and the flight returned safely to Cebu.

As a result of the incident, the South Korean transport ministry will be conducting a safety review of six low cost airlines operating in the country.
