Are you brave enough to stay there?
If you’ve seen the 1974 horror classic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, you probably remember the Last Chance gas station and barbecue joint. It was run by a family of cannibals, who served their murder victims to people in portions of chilli.
The building has fallen into disrepair since the film was released, but later this year it will reopen as a tourist resort.
Ohio businessman Roy Rose has been obsessed with the film since seeing it on his 10th birthday (a questionable decision by his parents), and last year he bought the building to restore it. Photographs of the ongoing work show a repainted exterior and the iconic ‘We Slaughter Barbecue’ roof sign.
The original building will serve barbecue food (presumably not harvested from humans), and cabins will be added to the site so that horror fans can stay overnight. There are also plans for a big screen to show the film itself (and hopefully not its numerous sequels).
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre Gas Station is slated to open in mid-July.
