Pigeons are allowed to play through

Trafalgar Square is a place of art, history, and pigeons. If a new crowd-funding campaign is successful, it could also be a place of crazy golf.

The project, launched by London Design Festival, is aiming to raise £120,000 by early June.  If successful, eight crazy golf holes will be installed in Trafalgar Square, each of them dreamt up by a world famous designer or architect.

Here’s the campaign video:

“Supporters of this project will bring about a public takeover of Trafalgar Square, transforming it into a free, colourful and playful arena of Visionary Crazy Golf,” states the campaign page.

Designers involved include Zaha Hadid, who died in March, Tom Dixon, and Camille Walala.

Pledges start at £5, which gets your name on the project’s website, and climb to £5000, which will net you a tour of project lead’s Paul Smith’s studio, with a huge range of options in between.

London Design Festival is aiming to open the course in September, where it will stay for only a week. If you like the idea, it’s time to get pledging.
