We’ve been waiting what feels like forever for Qantas’ non-stop service between London and Australia to launch, and now tickets have finally gone on sale.

The flight from London to Perth, approximately 9,000 miles, will take 17 hours. It’s the first time a regular passenger air service has directly linked Europe with Australia.

Tickets start at £1,300 for economy class, with flights kicking off on March 24, 2018.

Perth, Australia

We first reported on the planned route back in October 2015, and again in December 2016 when launch of the service was delayed into 2018.

“When Qantas created the Kangaroo Route to London in 1947, it took four days and nine stops,” said chief executive Alan Joyce. “Now it will take just 17 hours from Perth non-stop. The opportunities this opens up are huge.”

We absolutely love Australia, and we’re thrilled that backpackers will be able to get there more quickly and without the pain of layovers.
