Red Cross Medical Placements - Japan
Medical placements involve helping at Red Cross Hospitals and provide excellent experience for anyone hoping to work in medicine or health related fields.
The work is varied as volunteers will work in a variety of wards helping with many different tasks. Japanese lessons will be provided at the hospitals and volunteers may be asked to teach English to the nursing staff.
The more Japanese you know, the more responsible the tasks you may be given.
The role of a medical volunteer in Japan is exciting and interesting and offers the volunteer a real insight into both medical care and Japanese culture.
Minimum age: 18

“I climbed to the summit of Japan’s highest mountain, Mount Fuji, and saw a night sky I thought never existed, a glorious sunrise and the world beneath me. I tasted food I thought I’d never eat and found I loved it. I learned to speak, read and work in a language I’d never have imagined I’d learn.”

Lattitude Global Volunteering is a youth development charity that specialises in overseas volunteering placements. Since 1972, Lattitude Global Volunteering has sent over 40,000 young people to volunteer in over 17 countries around the world, where they’ve had the opportunity to work in areas as diverse as conservation, medical work, outdoor sports, community projects and teaching and for 3 to 12 months.
We help young people from developed and developing countries to volunteer and make sure our placements deliver sustainable value for the children, communities and institutions that volunteers work in. We match every volunteer to a placement that really needs their skills and where they can have the most benefit as part of a larger, ongoing programme. No qualifications or previous experience are required.
