Teaching & Caring in Argentina

Duration: 4 months
Countries: Argentina
Argentina is an incredible country, full of charm and natural wonders. From the awe-inspiring Iguazu Falls in the north, to the diverse capital of Buenos Aires and beauty of Patagonia

Teaching & Caring in Argentina

Volunteering in Argentina offers the opportunity to experience the Latin way of life, working with passionate and enthusiastic Argentinians across some very different placements. Whether teaching English to students in private schools or language institutes, or caring for children and young adults in children’s homes and residential centres, volunteers will be exposed to an incredible and diverse country.

English Teaching placements may be in fee-paying schools for both primary and secondary levels, or at private language institutes for children aged from ten through to adults. English is considered to be a very valuable language to learn and volunteers use their conversational English skills to assist and support both teachers and students in the classroom. Classes at the institutes are run during the day and evening, and often volunteers assist with some evening classes.

Community placements are available in children’s or residential homes when some of the children with learning difficulties become adults. Volunteers provide support within the children’s home to residents, who range in age from new-born’s to 16 years old. In the home, volunteers assist with the day-to-day running of the centre. Activities with the residents, such as arts, drama and sport, are also greatly appreciated and enjoyed. No English is spoken in these centres, so volunteers need to be able to speak some Spanish.

Minimum age: 18
Departs: Mar / Aug

Accommodation and Food

All volunteers will live with a host family whose son or daughter is volunteering in the UK. You will therefore be included in all family activities and it is an excellent opportunity to be part of the Ecuadorean way of life. Living with a family is also the best way to learn Spanish and when you leave you will have gained a second mum, dad, and brothers and sisters who you will never forget. Food is provided by hosts and volunteers also receive a substantial allowance in order to cover any extra food or travel costs.

About Lattitude Global Volunteering

Lattitude Global Volunteering is a youth development charity that specialises in overseas volunteering placements. Since 1972, Lattitude Global Volunteering has sent over 40,000 young people to volunteer in over 17 countries around the world, where they’ve had the opportunity to work in areas as diverse as conservation, medical work, outdoor sports, community projects and teaching and for 3 to 12 months.

We help young people from developed and developing countries to volunteer and make sure our placements deliver sustainable value for the children, communities and institutions that volunteers work in. We match every volunteer to a placement that really needs their skills and where they can have the most benefit as part of a larger, ongoing programme. No qualifications or previous experience are required.
