Day 1 - Nairobi to Lake Nakuru National Park
Leaving Nairobi early this morning we cross the vast Great Rift Valley, a cleft in the earth's surface stretching from the red sea to Madagascar. Stopping en route we take in the majestic views.
We kick off our game viewing this afternoon in an open 4x4 game drive vehicle with a local guide in the park and around the shallow soda lake that forms Lake Nakuru.
Day 2 - Lake Nakuru National Park to Eldoret
Crossing into the northern hemisphere this morning, we continue climbing in altitude to the pleasant town of Eldoret, Kenya's 5th largest. Our unique camp just outside of the town is unique in its location in the hills.
Day 3 - Eldoret to Kampala, Uganda
Onwards today we cross into Uganda, often referred to the Pearl of Africa. After completing the entry formalities our journey takes us around the northern shores of Lake Victoria and on into the hustle and bustle of Uganda's capital city, Kampala.
Day 4 - Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park
Leaving Kampala at first light we journey further west, crossing the equator again back into the southern hemisphere. Encountering some of the iconic Ugandan Longhorn cattle along the way while meandering through the lush rolling hills to our camp near the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
Day 5 - Queen Elizabeth National Park, Chimpanzee Trek
Entering the park, we drive through to the Kyambura Gorge for our chimpanzee trek. On the drive through the park we may be lucky enough to see some of the many animals that are in this beautiful park.
The chimpanzees are generally found playing in the tree top canopy but we can be fortunate enough to find them coming down to the tracks, a truly awe inspiring experience.
Day 6 - Queen Elizabeth National Park to Lake Bunyonyi
Travelling through the mountainous south western corner of Uganda to the lush and stunning 'Place of Many Little Birds' - Lake Bunyonyi.
Lake Bunyonyi is our home for the next couple of days while all the group trek to visit the mountain gorillas.
The lake is a beautiful tranquil spot and there are many activities to enjoy from our camp.
Day 7-8 - Lake Bunyonyi, Gorilla Trek
We have two days at Lake Bunyonyi in order to enable all the group an opportunity to trek to the mountain gorillas.
The trek is strenuous but the reward of seeing the majestic mountain gorillas more than makes up for the effort. It may take a few hours trekking through the mountainous jungle to find them eating and playing.
While not trekking there are many activities available at the camp on the shores of Lake Bunyonyi.
Day 9 - Lake Bunyonyi to Kampala
Another early start for the long drive back through to Kampala with another crossing of the equator where we will have the chance for another photo opportunity.
Day 10 - Kampala to Jinja
Travelling the short distance from Kampala down to the shores of Lake Victoria and the source of the Nile.
Our camp, in a lush setting on the grassy banks of the River Nile is an ideal base to enjoy this area.
Day 11-12 - Jinja
We have two fill days in Jinja and our team at the camp will be able to assist in organising a wide variety of activities in the area. Maybe take an extreme day white water rafting on the Nile or possibly explore the area on foot, bike or a quadbike.
We also have the opportunity to visit a local community school project.
Day 13 - Jinja to Eldoret, Kenya
Crossing back across into Kenya again our journey takes us on to Eldoret.
Day 14 - Eldoret to Nairobi
Crossing the equator for a final time our journey takes us back across the Great Rift Valley again and back to Nairobi where our safari must come to an end.
