Business internships in a travel company in Arusha, the safari capital of Tanzania. Perfectly placed to add a phase of volunteering at the Indian Ocean coast and a trip to Zanzibar island.

Business Community & Zanzibar

Perfect for those looking to: gain work experience in business, travel off the beaten track, live amoungst another culture, make a contribution to community projects.

Gain invaluable work experience in a travel company based in the safari capital of the world – Arusha. Perfectly placed to add on a contrasting phase of volunteering in community projects based at the coast in Dar Es Salaam and 4 day adventure on Zanzibar island.

Tourism is the fastest growing industry in Tanzania. Over the last five years the number of visitors, each year, has grown from about 500,000 annually to about 900,000.  The office environment will feel busy, fast paced and above all exciting. When possible you'll have the chance for the coveted “fam trips” getting you out to see first hand some of the spectacular sights of Tanzania.

Typical Tasks:
Communicating with clients and overseas agents.
Planning and organising itineraries - liaising with local agents and camps over bookings, food transport etc.
Familiarisation trips to various camps/ tourist spots to check them out.
Airport ‘meet and greet’: welcoming clients or seeing them off home.
General admin: calling clients, inputting data, researching projects, working in different departments (operations, administration, finance, marketing etc),  so that you fully understand how a successful business operates – skills that are transferable to other business disciplines.

Volunteering Phase
We highly recommend you stay on to get stuck into a contrasting phase of volunteering based in Dar es Salaam on the stunning Indian Ocean coast.  In this second phase you'll help the Montessori School who rely on private funds and local manpower to keep it going. Here you will roll up your sleeves to help with renovations, planting trees and watering plants to reduce dust and eye infections.

Zanzibar Island
Not to be missed, a 4-day break on Zanzibar Island, where you can kick back on the beaches, strap on a snorkel to track down a turtle before nipping off  to the spice market of Stone Town.
