Summary

Experience the Real Tanzania

Join a Raleigh expedition in Tanzania. Over five, seven or ten weeks, you and your team will learn to survive in one of the world's harshest and most beautiful environments. You'll forge friendships for life, gain invaluable leadership skills and get a completely unique insight into life in Tanzania.

How does it work?

You'll be part of three incredible challenges. The first will involve living alongside a remote Tanzanian community. You'll become part of community life, learning the local language, routine, customs, and maybe even a few local dances… Along with your team of volunteers from around the world, you'll work on projects that are making a genuine difference to the lives of community members. You might build taps that allow the community to access clean water, meaning that more of them are well enough to work and go to school. Whatever you do, it will be part of a long-term development programme. Your work will be one hundred percent worthwhile.

Your second challenge will take you out of your community and into the wilderness. On a three-week adventure leadership project, you'll learn camp-craft and survival skills, sleep under the stars and trek through stunning mountain peaks. You and your team will work together to complete one of our toughest and most rewarding adventure challenges. You’ll also get the chance to visit a national park, learn more about the country’s varied wildlife and maybe see an elephant or two.

You will also get to take part in an environmental project where you have the opportunity to work in reforestation – working to protect some of Tanzania’s most vulnerable natural habitats.
