Plenty of Parks
It may only be the USA's thirteenth largest state, but Utah packs more into its 200,000 square kilometres than most countries, let alone states, could ever dream of. Beginning in Las Vegas, Nevada, leave Utah's noisy neighbour behind to discover the hidden gardens of Zion, the spindly spires of Bryce Canyon, the inspired desert scenery of Moab and the Canyonlands National Park and the iconic Monument Valley – a setting that has set the benchmark for any postcard of the American West. So if you're keen to get into the heart of this giant continent and explore some of the places that make it so unique, our is a very good way to start!
Day 1 Las Vegas
Discover Nevada's one and only 'Sin City' – Las Vegas. Perhaps arrive early and soak up the sights and sounds of this fantasy land of brightly lit casinos, booty-shaking nightspots and all-you-can-eat buffets.
Day 2 Zion National Park
Blaze a trail through the gorges and canyons of Zion National Park, a spectacular collection of sandstone cliffs and rocky ridges that conceal hanging gardens and tranquil pools. With plenty of free time to seek out Zion's hidden treasures, strap on some hiking boots and get ready to explore.
Day 3 Bryce Canyon National Park
Head deeper into central Utah and make a beeline for the spindly rock spires of Bryce Canyon National Park. Branch out on foot and follow the many hiking trails through this unique setting and watch as the park's stunning, sculpted rock formations – known as hoodoos – are gradually turned into a kaleidoscope of colours by the setting sun.
Days 4-5 Moab
Journey through the craggy Moab mountains and Canyonlands National Park - the desert setting of the recent movie 127 Hours.
Day 6 Monument Valley
Be welcomed to one of the largest Native American reservations in the United States by the sandstone Goliath's of Monument Valley, and see why so many movie directors have chosen this lunar landscape as a stand-in for alien worlds. Spend some time learning about Navajo culture, watch as the sun paints the landscape with shades of gold and sleep under the vast desert sky.
Day 7 Lake Powell
With a dramatic backdrop of blood-red rock, Lake Powell's canyons and waterways are perfect for discovering idyllic hidden coves.
Days 8-9 Las Vegas
Make the final leg of the Utah Circuit by heading back to Las Vegas. Enjoy an optional limo-ride to celebrate the end of the journey with new friends, or head out to explore the many delights of this bizarre desert city.
