Coast to the Bay
Day 1: Los Angeles, California to San Diego*
Know much about San Diego besides Ron Burgundy and Sea World? Nope? That’s okay. With a coastline position that’s close enough to high-five Mexico, it’s all about how many fish tacos you can consume in the next 48 hours anyway. Tonight, hit up Gaslamp Quarter or seek out rooftop bars for cocktails with a view.
Day 2: San Diego*
Keep today classy with a ride on a historic trolley, a jaunt through the Spanish-style Balboa Park, or, you know, head to San Diego Zoo. Later you could always hone your craft beer vocab with a self-guided tour through over 80 breweries and brewpubs in “America’s Craft Beer Capital”.
Day 3: San Diego to Prescott, Arizona*
Joshua trees are like a mutant cactus-cross-pandanus and you’ll only spot them in Southwest USA. See how many you count on our trip to Prescott – where you can go bar hopping on Whiskey Row and soak up some of the lingering history from the notorious strip of gun-slinging saloons that once stood there.
Day 4: Prescott to Grand Canyon
Grab your crystals, switch on your Deepak Chopra and have a spiritual awakening in Sedona – home of red sandstone, ‘energy vortexes’ and John Wayne films. All right stop, meditate and listen. Next stop: one of nature’s biggest footprints.
Day 5: Grand Canyon
Ready to “go big or go home”? You may have seen pictures but nothing can prepare you for the humility that comes with standing on the precipice of something so mighty. Whether it’s six million or two billion years old we don’t know (jury’s still out) but this? Is #lifechanging stuff.
Day 6: Grand Canyon to Monument Valley, Utah
Urban hippies rejoice! The Cameron Native American Trading Post will soothe twitching shopping withdrawals with drums and silver jewellery before a Navajo-guided Jeep tour of Monument Valley that will have you looking out for Wile E. Coyote and Roadrunner.
Day 7: Monument Valley to Zion NP
Zion means the kingdom of heaven – once you arrive, you’ll see why. Millions-year-old sweeping sandstone canyons, iridescent waterfalls and ethereal landscapes make this a hiker and photographer’s utopia. Walk along the canyon floor or heed the challenge up to Angel’s Landing.
Day 8: Zion NP to Las Vegas, Nevada
From Bear Grylls’ utopia to his kryptonite, we leave the sandstone valley behind and push on to the oasis of indulgence in the desert that is Vegas. Our private party bus is about to kick off and you’re on the guest list!
Day 9: Las Vegas*
If you do manage to wake up this morning without a kidnapped tiger in your room, and with all your teeth, you obviously didn't do it right. But that's probs just as well as where else in the world can you take a gondola ride down a Venice canal, see the Pyramids of Giza and the Eiffel Tower, all before lunchtime? Can you say 'best day ever'? Yep, it's as cheesy as a stuffed-crust pizza, but it is also really cool. Later on suit up, stroll in and put it all on 'black' like the high roller you are! Just remember, what happens in Vegas…
Day 10: Las Vegas*
In need of giving your soul a bit of a clean today? Then take a leave pass to tour Hoover Dam or Death Valley. If not, you know the way to the Bellagio by now!
Day 11: Las Vegas to Mariposa/Yosemite NP, California
Cash in your chips (or cut your losses) and give Mike Tyson his tiger back - we're swapping bright lights and high rises for mountain ranges and waterfalls. We won't lie - today is all about the bus - but the live-action film happening outside your window is enough to rival Samsara. Use the downtime to edit your Vegas selfies before we arrive in Mariposa - gateway to Yosemite National Park.
Day 12: Mariposa/Yosemite NP*
There’s not enough flowery adjectives to describe the beauty of Yosemite Valley. It doesn’t have honey badgers, but it does have bears, coyotes and golden eagles that are badass in their own right. Hike, ride or take the valley shuttle as far as you can go on this free day.
Day 13: Mariposa to San Francisco*
“Just like a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow, the reward of walking on the Golden Gate bridge awaits us as we arrive in free-loving San Francisco. Pack your crystals and let your beard flow free, once our trip ends we hand you over to the city.
NOTE: If you want a get into jail pass to visit Alcatraz, do the crime (of booking) BEFORE you come on tour. You won’t have time to do the tour today so save it for tomorrow.
