Volunteer Work in Costa Rica
Conservation of the precious flora and fauna is a concern not only of the local people, but of international tourists, scientists and volunteers, too.
Costa Rica offers beautiful landscapes for beach lounging, surfing, snorkeling, hiking volcanoes, zip-lining, rafting, bird and wildlife watching, fishing, and exploring rain forests.
The main goal of our volunteer projects is to help conserve and maintain the natural resources and environment of the uniqueness of Costa Rican nature.
On the other hand there are also a lot of social institutions like day care centers, kindergartens or schools that are looking for a helping hand.
Volunteering in Wildlife Conservation
National Parks, Natural Reserves and Animal Rescue Centers are the best way to experience Costa Rican nature first hand.
You want to help to conserve and protect endangered animals like monkeys, sloths, parrots or pumas?
Or you feel like protecting sea turtles in the Caribbean?
Or would you like to work with plants, seeds and trees in a stunning national park?
The possibilities to help are endless but have all one thing in common: to conserve the diverse eco-system and unique local flora and fauna!
If you would like to volunteer with animals obviously you should love animals and feel committed to animal welfare. Feeding and playing with the animals and the maintenance of the project site are the most common tasks volunteers carry out.
In national parks or national reserves you will also give services to visitors, supervise animals or plant population, organise workshops or maintain the trails through the jungle.
If you wish to support a sea turtle protection project, you will observe and study the rare sea turtles and their behavior on the beautiful Costa Rican beaches.
Volunteer in social institutions with children
Are you more interested in helping children in need?
Then our programmes in one of the several social institutions in San Jose (capital of Costa Rica) will suit you well.
The schools, kindergartens, day care centers or orphanages we are working with, are public institutions and often lack professional staff and tools for adequate classes and rehabilitation of children.
Children usually come from low-income families or are orphans. So help in these institutions is important and urgently needed but also a delicate and sensible task.
We expect our volunteers to serve as a role model for these children and to be aware of the high responsibility they hold.
Volunteer help is needed to care for these children and to assist the teachers during the classes or in day-to-day tasks. This may include playing sports and outdoor games, organise games and recreational activities, teaching languages - especially English, supervise children or put for a nap the smallest children.
Tell us, what kind of area you are looking for and we are happy to assist you.
