ESCAPE TO PERU 14-16 DAYS
Day 1: Welcome to Peru!
Upon your arrival to the Lima Airport, one of our representatives will welcome you and take you to your hotel in the beautiful neighborhood of Miraflores near the coast, shopping, restaurants and bars.
Day 2: Lima: Visit the City of Kings
Take a guided tour of the Main Square, Cathedral and the Government Palace. Afterwards, you will head to the San Francisco Convent and its renowned catacombs. There is also an optional tour of the Larco Museum.
Day 3: Check out the Peruvian Coast
Today you can choose to spend a free morning in Lima or make your way early to Paracas to explore the Paracas National Reserve. If you choose a free morning in Lima, your bus will leave to Paracas at mid-day and you will have the afternoon to explore the city of Paracas.
Day 4: Explore the Little Galapagos Island Life and Nazca Lines
Today we will board a fully equipped speedboat to the Ballestas Islands, also known as the, “Little Galapagos”, because of the great variety of marine wildlife that inhabit them. See one of the more mysterious Nazca lines, “The Chandalier”, carved onto to coastline that can only be seen by boat.
In the afternoon, observe the Nazca and Palpa lines from an overlook point. They carvings range up to 300 meters in size and are in the shape of hummingbirds, spiders, monkeys, fish, sharks, orcas, and lizards, to name a few.
Day 5: Unwind in the Nazca Lines and the mysteries of Peru
After a free morning to explore Nazca, we depart along the Pan-American Highway to Arequipa. If you wanted to get another perspective of the Nazca Lines, then there is an optional overflight tour available in the morning.
Day 6: Arequipa—The White City
You have the day to enjoy this beautiful city. Arequipa, known as the “White City”, for its unique architecture. Three impressive volcanoes also surround it. You have the option to either take a city tour visiting the Santa Catalina Convent, Compania de Jesus Church and Mirador del Carmen lookout Point to get impressive views of the Misti Volcano or an exciting day of white water rafting on the Chili River.
Day 7: Arequipa – Colca Valley—Meet the Three S. American Camels and amazing Landscapes
We will embark to the Colca Valley and one of the deepest canyons in the world. We will make stops at Aguada Blanca National Reserve, whose rugged terrain is home to vast herds of Vicuñas, Alpacas and Llamas. A lookout point that sits at 4,877 m.a.s.l to admire 3 amazing volcanoes. Here you will have the option to soak in the natural hot springs or stay with a local family and learn about the traditions and customs.
Day 8: Colca Canyon – Puno—Visit the home of the Condor, akaaw!
Early in the morning, we will head off to the Condor Cross Lookout Point to see the majestic Andean Condor in flight! After lunch, we travel to Puno at the shore of Lake Titicaca. En route, stop to see the amazing petrified forest of Imata and Lagunillas , home to numerous species of migratory and Andean birds.
Day 9: Lake Titicaca: Uros & Taquile Islands
Today we will explore the world's highest navigable lake, Titicaca, and explore its unique and breathtaking islands. Uros is a series of floating reed islands and Taquile is a natural island full of Inca Terraces. You also have the option to do a home stay visit on the island of Amantani and see how the Aymara people live in this sacred place.
Day 10: Make our way to the Capitol of the Inka Empire
Today we will embark on the most scenic trip of the Peruvian Andes!
On board a comfortable bus, we will pass different Andean villages, snowcapped mountains, and herds of Llamas. If you choose to upgrade to our tourist bus, you will make stops at Andahuaylillas, also known as the Sistine Chapel of America, Racchi, the ruins of a well-known Inca Temple to the God Viracocha and La Raya Pass, which is the highest point of the Peruvian Altiplano. Lunch at a traditional Andean restaurant is also included before we arrive to Cusco, the Capital of the Inca Empire.
Day 11: Take in the Rythims of Cusco
Free day to explore the amazing city of Cusco, which was the Capital of the Inca Empire and one of the most historical cities in the Americas.
Day 12: Sacred Valley: Pisac – Ollantaytambo
Today you will experience a full-day guided excursion throughout the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
In the morning, we explore the impressive ruin site of Pisac and in the afternoon the fortress of Ollantaytambo, the last stand of the Inca.
Day 13: Mount Magestic Machu Picchu – Cusco
We take an early Expedition class train to Machu Picchu. Enjoy a guided tour in the morning and have free time in the afternoon to explore the sanctuary on you own. In the evening, we return to Cusco where you will stay the night.
Day 14: Cusco - Amazon Jungle
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport in order to catch your flight to Puerto Maldonado and then taken by motorized dugout canoe up the Madre de Dios River to your lodge where your guide will show you all that the Amazon has to offer.
Day 15: Sandoval Lake
Take many excursions to the Macaw Claylick, to see 5 different species of birds, the Tambopata National Reserve/Lake Sandoval to see giant river otters and many different species of fish and monkeys.
Day 16: Goodbye Peru!! - Amazon Jungle - Lima
After breakfast, we will transfer you to the city of Puerto Maldonado. You will have a brief visit to the farmer’s market and then transfer to the airport in order to board your flight to Lima to catch your international flight home.
If you require an additional night in Lima, we can arrange a hotel and airport transfers for an additional cost.
