Ski & Snowboard Instructor's Program

Timberline Academy is a full-service outdoor adventure school offering unique Gap Year experiences in Banff National Park. Timberline clients engage in skills training programs related to ski/snowboard instruction, mountain rescue, wilderness first aid, avalanche safety and are able to earn industry certifications and university/college credits in the process.

Timberline Academy is the only local provider of Gap Year programs in Banff National Park. As a result, Timberline is able to create a truly local experience for their clients that includes trips throughout the rockies, independant housing and industry internships. Instructor Internship Program

Our Instructor Internship Program offers industry certifications for Ski Instructing, Wilderness Rescue Medicine, Avalanche Rescue and Interpretive guiding. Furthermore, we are proud that our students are able to work as ski instructors in Banff throughout their season in Canada. We believe in providing proper accommodation that allows our young clients to have the opportunity to cook and maintain a household throughout the season as an adult. We also cherish the opportunity to take all of our clients on trips throughout our home in the Canadian Rockies so they are able to ski and experience ski towns besides just Banff. The goal of Timberline Academy to provide the most well-rounded outdoor education experience necessary to begin a career in the Canadian Outdoor Adventure industry.

11 Week - Winter Skills Semester

Timberline Academy’s 3 month program is designed to gain an all encompassing set of skills from different facets of the Canadian Ski and Snowboard industry. In addition to earning certifications, participants will have the opportunity to travel on ski trips to Panorama, Kicking Horse, Revelstoke and go on a once in a lifetime Cat-Skiing adventure. At the end of the program Timberline makes introductions between the participants and hiring managers at resorts to set you up for future employment in the Canadian rockies.

The course begins in January when the season is enjoying its peak snowfall, and in the first 1-6 weeks you can expect:

- Level 1 CSIA/CASI Training & Exam
- Avalanche Skills Training
- Wilderness First Aid
- Race Training
- Terrain Park Training

Through weeks 7-12, students are able to focus on:

- Level 2 CSIA/CASI
- Wilderness First Responder
- CSCF Race Coaching
- Avalanche Skills Training 2
