Volunteering with Children
As a volunteer, you could be teaching a range of subjects including English, math, science, and physical education. If you have other interests you can set up extra-curricular activities like drama, art, drama, music, sports and IT.
Volunteer teachers usually start by working alongside the local staff to help improve conversational English. By assisting with lessons and introducing fun and interactive ways of learning, such as games and songs, you'll improve the students' enthusiasm and develop their confidence. The children will also be interested in you and your life, so be prepared to answer lots of questions, share your experiences and get to know more about the children and their lives.
This project offers so many things for you as you will also learn lots - from the students and other volunteers. You will also experience local life, learn a new language and how to inspire others. Along the way, you’ll also learn lots about yourself by living with and helping others. Whatever you decide to teach, one thing is for sure - the impact that you will have on the lives of these children will last a lifetime.
