The Zarengold Train Journey Itinerary

Day 1 MOSCOW
Enjoy the first excursion of your trip as you embark on an illuminating ‘Moscow by night’ city lights tour. Afterwards, stroll across the spectacular Red Square accompanied by your guide and enjoy Moscow’s Metro stations in all of their glory before settling down to your first evening meal. (D)

Day 2 MOSCOW
Your grand city tour begins in the morning as you explore the mighty Kremlin and visit one of its magnificent historic cathedrals. In the evening, depart for Kazan. (B, L, D)

Day 3 KAZAN
Arrive in the morning and visit the Kremlin which contains both a Mosque and a Church, reflecting the unique diversity of this city. (B, L, D)

Day 4 EKATERINBURG
Enjoy a short tour of the city centre and visit the beautifully decorated Cathedral on the Blood – the site where the last Tsar, Nicholas II, and many of his relatives were executed. (B, L, D)

Day 5 NOVOSIBIRSK
Travel into the heart of Siberia where you are welcomed with a traditional Russian bread and salt ceremony. Your tour includes a visit to the mighty River Ob and a monument dedicated to the Trans Siberian Railway. (B, L, D)

Day 6 ON THE TRAIN
Today you travel further east on board the Zarengold train, crossing the Yenisei River through Siberia, passing mountains, crystal clear rivers and lush green slopes. In the evening enjoy a special ‘Tsars feast’ and relax on board with a vodka and caviar tasting session. (B, L, D)

Day 7 IRKUTSK
Welcome to the capital of Eastern Siberia! During a city tour you can see beautiful Siberian wooden cottages, the new statue of Alexander II and the lively market hall. After lunch take an excursion to the ‘Life and Work in the Time of the Tsars’ exhibition at the Open Air Museum. (B, L, D)

Day 8 LAKE BAIKAL
Visit a traditional Siberian village before enjoying a boat transfer to Port Baikal to board the train again. The scenery is truly spectacular as you travel along the shores of Lake Baikal. Enjoy a picnic by the lake (weather permitting). (B, L, D)

Day 9 ULAN UDE
Pass through the magnificent valley of Selenga located in the mountainous wilderness of Eastern Siberia. On the way to the Mongolian border the train stops in Ulan Ude; explore with a city tour. (B, L, D)

Day 10 ULAN BATOR
During a city tour of Mongolia’s capital, view the impressive Gandan Buddhist Monastery and intricate Choijin Lama Museum. In the evening, you can share stories with fellow passengers and tour guides at the best beer garden in the city. You spend the night in a centrally located hotel in Ulan Bator or alternatively we can organise a stay in a yurt in the beautiful Mongolian Alps (supplement available on request). (B, L, D)

Day 11 ULAN BATOR
Today take a thrilling excursion to the Mongolian Alps and dine like a nomad with lunch in a traditional camp. Take this special opportunity to view a Mongolian horse riding show. (B, L, D)

Day 12 GOBI DESERT
Take advantage of a unique photo opportunity on a morning stop in the midst of the vast Gobi Desert. Reach the Chinese border at midday and transfer to the Chinese train. (B, L, D)

Day 13 BEIJING
After viewing the impressive display of Chinese rural life from your cabins you arrive in the capital, Beijing. (B, L)

Day 14 BEIJING
Appreciate the splendour of the Temple of Heaven and its parks as well as the historic Tiananmen Square with a city tour, before being guided through the Forbidden City. (B, L, D)

Day 15 BEIJING
Enjoy a full day excursion to the Great Wall of China. Your programme also includes a tour of a pearl farm, the Ming Tombs and the Avenue of the Spirits. In the evening satisfy your hunger with the world famous dish - Peking Duck. (B, L, D)

Day 16 FLY BEIJING TO UK
Your unique and unforgettable adventure draws to an end. Transfer to the airport for your flight home. (B)
