Step off the well-beaten tourist trail and explore some of Australia’s most beautiful areas that the majority of visitors miss out on.

Beach clean ups

The programme

You start this programme in one of 15 gateway cities across Australia. There are a wide variety of conservation issues that are being tackled and you can help out with this valuable work. You could be doing anything from collecting the seeds of native plants, beach clean-ups, restoring boardwalks, planting trees, or any number of other conservation tasks. The one thing that you can be certain of is that you will be making a valuable contribution to the on-going conservation effort in this unique country.

You don’t need to have any specific previous experience, just a passion for the environment and a willingness to get stuck in with whatever needs doing. One project usually lasts a week or two which means you get to see a project through to the end. If you decide to stay longer you have the opportunity to take part in another project and perhaps experience a new area or take part in a different type of conservation programme.

The Details

You could be staying in a caravan, a hostel, bunkhouses or tents so get prepared to be at one with nature!  Don't forget your sleeping bag and sleeping mat, it is likely that you will share a room with another volunteer.
