Performing Arts Internships in Spain

Build your resume and gain international arts experience, all while being immersed in Spanish culture! In Barcelona, you will walk away with a better understanding of the Spanish language and the dynamics of an arts organisation. In addition, each intern will plan a final project to display his/her contribution to the organisation. We offer internships with varying levels of Spanish proficiency, from beginner to fluent.

Performing Arts Abroad intern abroad participants are strongly encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to take on a self-driven capstone project to complement their internship experience. This is a unique opportunity for you to complete a project of your own design and choosing with the guidance of a PAA advisor. In the end, you’ll feel a deeper connection to your international internship experience, and you’ll produce something that demonstrates your professional aptitude, what you have learned, and what you have contributed to your host organisation.

THEATRE: Intern with a theatrecompany in Barcelona and gain a better understanding of the day-to-day dynamics of a theatre group in this fantastic city.

MUSIC: Explore the music industry abroad by interning at a local music school in Barcelona or working with a festival in the summer. You will work at least 20 hours a week, and if you intern with a school, you will assist with their development and marketing of new products and services. Interns will also have the chance to assist with the daily operation of the school and developing new public relations strategies. Specially qualified applicants may have the chance to teach or assist a teacher in teaching classes. For summer festivals, interns will assist with a variety of tasks such as marketing, online promotion through social media, event planning, and working as a production assistant.

FILM: On this program, you will spend around 20 hours per week interning with an organisation focusing on film. In some cases, the organisation itself will be a film studio, production house, animation studio, or film company. In other cases, you may be using your film skills to help produce promotional material for a non film-focused company and/or to capture events throughout the city related to your placement organisation. We handpick each specific placement based on your interests as captured in your application through a detailed questionnaire, as well as a Skype interview.

DANCE: Spend six weeks or longer interning with a dance studio in the heart of Barcelona for at least 20 hours per week. We work with a wide variety of dance organisations, and handpick each specific placement based on your interests as captured in your application through a detailed questionnaire, as well as a Skype interview.
