Volunteer in Nicaragua with GIVE
Nicaragua Program Summary
Get the chance to have a meaningful volunteering experience while exploring the “Land of Lakes and Volcanoes!” From the undeveloped tropical islands of the Caribbean coast to the rural fishing villages on the Pacific Coast, you'll see it all! Based in the poorest country in Central America, the projects are designed to provide technical and English education, economic opportunities for locals, and housing for single-mother families, all while stopping along the way to surf Pacific waves, sand board down an active volcano, snorkel in Caribbean reefs, and release rescued baby sea turtles.
Volunteers can arrive one week early for the Spanish immersion program where they can learn the language from local teachers while exploring the colonial city of Granada. They can also extend their stay for another eleven days and take part in an innovative SCUBA Reef Conservation Program, where they can enjoy over ten dives, earn a PADI Scuba Certification, and help conserve the ecosystem by building and installing an artificial reef!
1. Work alongside locals building critical infrastructure out of eco-friendly materials, and broaden local kids' horizons with English lessons.
2. Release baby Sea Turtles to protect the endangered Hawksbill species.
3. Sandboard down Nicaragua's youngest and most active volcano, snorkel in the crystal blue waters of the Caribbean Ocean, and scuba dive in the pristine blue waters of the Caribbean while exploring and protecting vibrant coral reefs!
4. Immerse yourself in the historical city of Granada while learning Spanish and living with a local family.
5. Make lifetime friends from all over the world!

More information about this gap year opportunity...
Our accommodations throughout the majority of your trip are located on the beach and they are bungalow style. In Nicaragua, we stay literally on the beach throughout our 15 days. On the Pacific Coast we stay in a rustic style hostel in the community we will be serving during our stay. In the Caribbean we are staying in the coolest spot on the Island, on the white sandy beaches a stone throw away from the bright blue Caribbean waters.
Our GIVE guides are experienced guides with extensive knowledge of the host country. They have cultural, language, safety, and emergency first response training. They are personable and supportive of the volunteers throughout the entire GIVE experience.
Our experienced, local chefs take pride in providing our volunteers with three meals a day, as well as introducing them to the local cuisine and culture of the region. Meals are filling, healthy, and delicious. We can accommodate dietary restrictions as well.
