Volunteer at co-operative in Morocco
Come and spend a month in our friendly Berber village and help set up an olive oil co-operative that will benefit the villagers and help to improve their standard of living. The first phase of this project starts in September 2017 where you will help with the construction of the co-operative warehouse, working alongside the Berber people. There will also be agricultural work to carry out which involves planting out extra olive groves. Your donation will go towards the materials for the construction of the co-op building, the processing machinery involved in the manufacturing of the olive oil and the olive plants.
Volunteering in Morocco will prove to be an interesting cultural experience to all participants. You will have an initial 2 night orientation in Marrakesh with a guided city tour and plenty of time to explore the medina with its palaces and souks. Whilst volunteering you will be accommodated in basic but comfortable dormitory accommodation and be fully catered for with tasty Moroccan cuisine. You will be expected to volunteer on the project for 5 days a week with 1 day as a rest day in the village and the second day with an excursion to a local place of interest. In addition to this in your down time there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved with Berber village life, experiencing traditional festivals and celebrations, drinking mint tea in the local cafes, shopping in the weekly markets, playing football and visiting the families in their homes.
Following the completion of your month long volunteer period you will have the option to extend your stay on the project or you may opt for further sightseeing in Morocco such as a Sahara or Jebel Toubkal trek. Please visit our website for further details.
