Day 2: Ho Chi Minh City
Rise and shine for an optional visit the Cu Chi tunnels for a lesson in Vietnamese resilience. Later, have you slurped some pho yet? A.k.a steaming broth and slinky rice noodles? By the end of the trip, cravings will be pho-real. Tonight: the city is all yours as you wander free. Top tip: let loose and find a rooftop bar to sit high with the tangled power lines (you’ll soon see…)
Day 3: Ho Chi Minh City to Hoi An
Pack yo’ bags as we fly upwards to the food capital of Vietnam - seriously, unreal. Give it 10 minutes, and we promise you’ll be hooked on Hoi An. Make tracks through the city with a guided tour. On the menu tonight: an optional street eats tour. If you think you’ve eaten it all, nah-ah not even close. Chopsticks at the ready.
Day 4: Hoi An
Free day = awesome-ness! FYI:UNESCO World Heritage site alert. Stroll over the Japanese Covered Bridge or visit the Cam Nam Village - just a short boat, skip and a jump away. If you need to squeeze some tanning time, go for it. This is a coastal town, remember? Later, flex your culinary skills and learn the the A to Z of Vietnamese cooking (optional).
Day 5: Hoi An to Hanoi
Enter Hanoi. Take it all in - the pagodas, the traces of French-Chinese occupation and scooters x1000. Tonight’s dinner fare is at Koto, a restaurant providing training and skills to young teens. Walk out satisfied knowing that wherever the dollars are spent it's going to a great place. #Winning.
Day 6: Hanoi
Rumble through the capital today. Tick off the Dong Xuan market and masses of mausoleums’ paying tribute to the resting place of Ho Chi Minh with an included cyclo ride. Tonight: another optional walking nomfest via street eats tour. We may or may not be slightly obsessed. How could you resist?
Day 7: Hanoi to Halong Bay
Leave the mainland for dust and kick over to Halong Bay. Oogle the masses of limestone pillars poking from with water as you float past on traditional junk boat. Ah-maz-ing! Your mission today? Chill. And Swim. And more chills. Maybe a quick kayak sesh, then tuck into dinner onboard.
Day 8: Halong Bay to Hanoi
Pack your bags and get ready for our afternoon farewells. Before we go, jump in the jade waters for one last post-brekky swim before we head back to Hanoi (aww).
