Summary

Chalet Host Cookery Course

The hugely popular Chalet Host Course has been tailored specifically to help those needing to gain the required skills to work in a Chalet or in other hosting jobs, covering all aspects including; hosting skills, budgeting, shopping, menu planning and chalet cleaning.

Come and spend two weeks at our relaxed and friendly, family-run kitchen. With good music and laughter flowing, our team of experienced chefs will be on-hand to guide you through this comprehensive course!

Our carefully structured course has been designed to give you the hands-on knowledge you need for hosting a chalet. The first week of the course focusses on building up your basic knowledge of cookery; knife skills, food presentation, baking, and teaches easy traditional recipes like Lasagne and Shepherds Pie. Thursday night is the infamous Avenue Dinner Party, where you invite your family and friends along to cook for them to show off your newfound culinary skills! The second week builds on the first, and features more advanced recipes and skills. Included is a fish day, Thai day, moroccan day; giving a brilliantly broad spectrum of knowledge! We’ll also spend some time teaching you hosting skills, canape making, budgeting, stock rotation, cleaning, customer service, and how to cater to the sometimes tricky dietary requirements of your guests, with some delicious vegan and gluten-free alternatives!

Unlike a lot of cookery schools, we don’t teach solely from a cook book, and ask our students to understand food - It’s time to move away from cookbook dependency and start treating recipes as sources of inspiration and guidance.

We have close links to leading companies in the ski industry, and will help you to get a job for your season. We will help you to build your CV to show you in the best light, and give you those key ski company contacts. We will also help you through the recruitment process, which we do by giving helpful interview training tips and practice. Additionally, we will ensure that you can provide a full planned and prepared sample menu plan for your season.

We have accommodation options available as an optional extra!

And we are an Approved DofE Activity Provider!
