Summary

La Tomatina

Every year a food fight of epic proportions takes place in the little town of Buñol, Spain. This festival is one that cannot be missed and Stoke Travel does it like no other.  It's so much more than hurling tomatoes at each other. When you're not scampering about in the pulpy madness you can chill by the pool, relax on the beach or dance up a storm in Valencia. On the morning of the festival we will provide you with a delicious Bloody Mary before joining tens of thousands of people who gather in the small town to be soaked by water bombs, water pistols and other devices. Then comes the massive trucks packed full of juicey red tomatoes. What takes place next is pure madness as friends, strangers and the young and the old squash each other with the heaps of fruit. Once we've cleansed ourselves of the saucy mess it's off to Valencia to continue the fiesta at the official afterparty! Whether you ride with us from Barcelona, San Sebastian, Ibiza or Valencia, or you simply meet there you are guaranteed to have the time of you life at this incredible festival.

FAQ's

Where do the buses from Barcelona leave from and at what time?
The buses leave from Plaza Catalunya in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. The Day Trip leaves at 03.30am and leaves from Bunol at 1pm, returning to Barcelona by roughly 7pm on the day of Tomatina. The Ride with Us trip will leave at noon on the 30th and will return at 1pm on the 1st arriving in Barcelona at 7pm(ish).

Should I bring a change of clothes?
Yes, especially if you are on the day trip. The bus driver will not let you on in tomato pulp. If you’re not on the day trip, maybe just bring a black plastic bag so they’ll let you on the bus back to camp. Also, be sure to stand directly in front of one of the hose-holding locals and let the beautiful, cold water clean you of excess fruit baggage before you head back towards the bus.

What else should I bring?
Sunglasses and sunscreen as it gets pretty hot, a pillow and torch for your tent, goggles, condoms, a waterproof camera, swimmers to have a dip in the pool afterwards, old shoes that can be thrown out after the madness, and shampoo if you don’t want your hair stained red for the next month. Oh and don’t forget a towel.

Are the shuttles to and from Tomatina festival included in the price?
Yes. Please note the Tomatina bracelet is not included in the Meet Us There price, but is €17.50 extra. This is not our choice! The town council has imposed this extra charge. It is included in the package deals.

Are the shuttles to and from the Water & Wine festival included in the price?
No, it’s €20 extra for the transportation to and from the Water & Wine fight, although the fight itself is free of charge. We also throw in some boxes of red wine to get you started.

Do you provide transport from Valencia centre?
No, but getting to Puzol from Valencia is easy peasy and we pick you up from the train station there. We have set pickup times (9am – 8pm on the hour) and outside of that, just let us know when you are on the train from Valencia’s central station to Puzol and we’ll jump in the car and head over. See how to get there details for more info.

What is the breakfast like?
Breakfast is bacony and eggy and delicious. Sometimes there’a pancake or two thrown in for good measure. Our chefs are pretty fricking good at food. Please note vege and vegan options available.
