Art, nature, culture, beaches, fiestas, real Spanish traditions, enchanting neighboring towns and villages and plenty of sunshine; these are just a few of the reasons why you should choose Malaga as the city in which to earn your TEFL certificate.
Malaga is the main city on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain, where the sun shines for more than 300 days every year. It’s also a city renowned for its culture as it is one of the oldest cities in the world, with a history spanning around 2,700 years. It’s not surprising that the city is a strong candidate to be awarded the European Capital of Culture in 2016 when you consider the wealth of culture it has to offer:
The birthplace of Picasso, where you will find the largest collection of his works at the Picasso Museum. The Alcazaba fortress and palace, home of the rulers of the Muslim sultanate of Malaga. The Roman amphitheater, built in the age of Augustus. The splendid cathedral, constructed during the first half of the sixteenth century. The historical district of Malaga, where architecture from different centuries mingle, as is to be expected in a living and constantly evolving city.
The Andalucia region is also the undisputed home of the Flamenco. There are special festivals throughout the year dedicated to Flamenco dancing, although you can experience it on a daily basis in many local bars, together with the classical Spanish guitar, as popularised by Andres Segovia.
Modern Malaga is the main tourist center on the Costa del Sol, with sunshine and beaches, restaurants, tapas bars and much more. Malaga is certainly a food lover’s paradise, with literally hundreds of bars and beachside restaurants serving low-cost dishes such as freshly grilled sardines, a range of local fish and seafood called, ‘fritura malague’ and all varieties of Mediterranean cuisine.
