Day 1 – Hanoi
Welcome to Hanoi and the start of your Vietnamese adventure. Travel independently to the hotel where you’ll meet your tour leader and group before spending the rest of today exploring Vietnam’s capital at leisure. Overnight: Hanoi.
Day 2 – Cat Ba Island and Lan Ha Bay
Hanoi – Cat Ba Island. This morning we’ll travel to Cat Ba Island in Halong Bay and enjoy a boat cruise to the floating village of Beo, and the pristine Lan Ha Bay. Later, there’s an optional kayaking excursion around the island’s beautiful lagoons or if you’re feeling energetic, a cycle ride through the jungle to the remotest village on Cat Ba. Spend the rest of today as you please – why not visit Canon Fort for spectacular views over the beautiful archipelago? Overnight: Cat Ba Island. (B/L)
Day 3 – Cat Ba Island and Hue
Cat Ba Island – Hue. Enjoy free time this morning or join our optional excursion to Cat Ba fish market, before we climb one of the island’s peaks for breath-taking views over the national park. This afternoon we’ll catch the overnight train to Hue. Overnight: Sleeper train. (B)
Day 4 – Hue sightseeing
Today we’ll explore Hue’s biggest attraction with a tour of the Imperial Citadel, constructed in the 19th century. Later, we’ll meet locals on the banks of the Perfume River and enjoy local cuisine in their homes.
This afternoon you’ll enjoy some free time to explore the city at leisure. Why not travel to the picturesque unknown beach of Thuan An and relax, or visit the imperial tombs? Alternatively, join one of today’s optional excursions – cycle through rural Hue or watch the beautiful sunset over the Chuon lagoon. Overnight: Hue. (L)
Day 5 – Hoi An
Hue – Hoi An. This morning we’ll travel to the charming port town of Hoi An. Join a walking tour of the town, visiting highlights including the wonderfully preserved colonial houses and the iconic Japanese Bridge. Then spend the rest of today exploring the vibrant town as you please – why not visit one of Hue’s charming museums? Overnight: Hoi An. (B)
Day 6 – Free time in Hoi An
Hoi An – Mui Ne. Today is free for you to explore Hoi An at leisure – do some shopping and sample the delicious street food the town has to offer. Or why not join one of our optional excursions for the day? Visit a local farm where we’ll learn about traditional farming methods and cook our own Vietnamese lunch, followed by a relaxing basket boat ride through the picturesque coco-palm forest. Alternatively, if you’re seeking an adrenalin rush then enjoy a cycling and paddle adventure in the town’s surrounding countryside before we say goodbye to Hoi An and take the train to Mui Ne. Overnight: Sleeper train. (B)
Days 7-8 – Mui Ne beach
Once we arrive in Mui Ne, you’ll have the rest of today and day 8 to spend as you please. Mui Ne is one of Vietnam’s most popular resorts and the golden sandy beach is an ideal place for you to relax and soak up some sunshine. Swim amongst colourful fishing boats in the crystal-clear waters and explore the rolling sand dunes at leisure. Overnight: Mui Ne. (B X1)
Day 9 – Ho Chi Minh City
Mui Ne – Ho Chi Minh City. Today we’ll travel to bustling Ho Chi Minh City. Explore at your own pace or join our optional tour which will take in highlights of the city including the Reunification Palace and the lesser known Tan Dinh market. Overnight: Ho Chi Minh City. (B)
Day 10 – Ho Chi Minh City
Today marks the end of your Vietnamese adventure. Before you leave Ho Chi Minh City, you may join our optional excursion to the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, which played a vital role in the Vietnam War. (B)
