Explore South-East Asia from Hanoi to Bangkok with our Budget tour, including the beautiful Cat Ba Island, the spectacular Angkor Wat and the iconic Battambang Bamboo train.

Day 1 – Hanoi
Welcome to Vietnam. Travel independently to the hotel and meet with your tour leader and group, before enjoying the rest of your first day in Hanoi at leisure. Overnight: Hanoi.
Day 2 – Cat Ba Island and Lan Ha Bay
Hanoi – Cat Ba Island. This morning we’ll travel to Cat Ba Island in the beautiful Ha Long Bay. Enjoy a cruise to the floating village of Beo and discover the emerald waters of Lan Ha Bay. Later, explore the bay by kayak or take a cycle ride through the jungle on one of our optional excursions – keep an eye out for critically endangered White-headed langurs as you ride through the national park.
The afternoon is free for you to enjoy as you please – why not visit Canon Fort for stunning views of the sunset over the archipelago? Overnight: Cat Ba Island. (B/L)
Day 3 – Cat Ba Island and Hue
Cat Ba Island – Hue. Spend this morning at leisure or choose to join our optional excursion to Cat Ba fish market. Hike to the summit of one of the islands peaks and enjoy spectacular views over the national park, before we board the overnight train to Hue. Overnight: Sleeper train. (B)
Day 4 – Hue sightseeing
Today your half-day guided tour of Hue will take in highlights including the Imperial Citadel, Hue’s most famous attraction. Later we’ll enjoy delicious cuisine with the locals at the village of the Mandarins, on the banks of the Perfume River.
The afternoon is free for you to continue exploring Hue as you please. Why not join one of our optional excursions to Chuon lagoon, or a cycle ride through Hue’s lesser-visited rice fields and canals? Overnight: Hue. (L)
Day 5 – Hoi An
Hue – Hoi An. Today we’ll travel to Hoi An and enjoy a half-day walking tour of the charming port town, visiting sights including the iconic Japanese Bridge and the historical UNESCO-listed centre. Following the tour, you’ll have the rest of today to relax and explore Hoi An at leisure. Overnight: Hoi An. (B)
Day 6 – Hoi An to Mui Ne
Hoi An – Mui Ne. Enjoy your last day in Hoi An as you please – spend some time browsing the town’s markets and trying the delicious street food. Our optional excursions today will visit a local farm to cook a traditional Vietnamese lunch, or if you’re feeling energetic you may wish to participate in a cycling and paddling adventure through the countryside.
This evening catch an overnight train to the popular beach resort of Mui Ne. Overnight: Sleeper train. (B)
 Days 7-8 – Mui Ne
Arrive at your hotel where you’ll have the rest of today and day 8 to relax on the golden sandy beaches of Mui Ne. Unwind in the sunshine and enjoy a swim in the crystal waters, surrounded by colourful fishing boats. Overnight: Mui Ne. (B X1)
Days 9-10 – Free time in Ho Chi Minh City
Mui Ne – Ho Chi Minh City. Leave Mui Ne and travel to Ho Chi Minh City, formerly the South Vietnamese capital of Saigon. Enjoy the rest of today exploring the vibrant city independently or join our optional tour taking in highlights including the famous Reunification Palace. Spend day 10 further discovering the bustling city at leisure. Overnight: Ho Chi Minh City. (B X1)
Day 11 – Ho Chi Minh City to Phnom Penh
Ho Chi Minh City – Phnom Penh. Say goodbye to Vietnam today as we travel to the Cambodian capital, Phnom Penh. Take a ride in a traditional tuk tuk to the Mekong River before we enjoy a drink at the Foreign Correspondents Club. Overnight: Phnom Penh. (B)
Day 12 – Phnom Penh
Spend today exploring Phnom Penh at leisure or why not join one of our optional excursions? Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the city, taking in highlights including the famous Silver Pagoda and the National Museum. Later you may wish to join our optional excursion to the notorious Khmer Rouge Killing Fields and Toul Sleng Prison to learn about the dark history of the Pol Pot regime from 1975-1979. Alternatively, take a cycling trip to the beautiful Koh Dach Island. Overnight: Phnom Penh. (B)
Day 13 – Battambang
Phnom Penh – Battambang. Today we’ll travel to the ‘rice bowl of Cambodia’, Battambang. Stop at a local pottery en-route before we continue to Phnom Sambov Mountain. Enjoy the views from the summit and admire the beautiful golden pagodas of Wat Sampeou. We’ll also stop at the Khmer Rouge ‘killing caves’ – now a place of pilgrimage. Overnight: Battambang. (B)
Day 14 – Battambang Bamboo train
Battambang – Siem Reap. Browse the stalls at the lively Battambang market this morning before we travel to a local village famous for its Khmer architecture. Meet the locals and discover more about traditional Cambodian life, including a visit to a local weaving and handicraft centre.
Later, enjoy a ride on Battambang’s most famous attraction, the bamboo train – used by locals to transport their goods. Our final stop before we travel to Siem Reap will be to the ancient temple of Wat Banan, where we’ll enjoy scenic views of the surrounding countryside. Enjoy your first evening in Siem Reap at leisure. Overnight: Siem Reap. (B)
 Day 15 – Angkor Temple Complex
Today we’ll discover Cambodia’s most famous site, the magnificent Angkor Wat temple. Rising 65 metres high, this three-tiered temple stands out as the best-preserved site in the Angkor complex. The day continues with a trip to the ancient city of Angkor Thom, where the smiling faces of the Bayon temple will gaze down at you. Finally, we’ll discover Ta Prohm Temple, which you’ll recognise as the set of the ‘Tomb Raider’ movie starring Angelina Jolie. Return to your hotel and enjoy the rest of today as you please. Overnight: Siem Reap. (B)
Day 16 – Tonle Sap Lake
Siem Reap – Tonle Sap Lake. This morning we’ll travel to Tonle Sap Lake and visit the beautiful village of Kampong Phluk, where buildings are built on stilts over the water. You’ll then have the afternoon to explore Siem Reap independently. Why not enjoy our optional dinner and traditional Apsara dance show before you discover the city’s vibrant nightlife? Overnight: Siem Reap. (B)
Day 17 – Siem Reap to Bangkok
Siem Reap – Bangkok. Today we’ll leave Cambodia and travel to Thailand’s capital, Bangkok. Arrive at your hotel and enjoy the rest of the day exploring the buzzing city at leisure. Overnight: Bangkok.
Days 18-19 – Free time in Bangkok
Spend the last full day of your tour exploring Bangkok as you please. Visit highlights such as the ornate Grand Palace and be sure to enjoy some of the city’s famous bars and restaurants.
Our tour comes to an end on day 19 – enjoy breakfast at your hotel before travelling to the airport for your onward flight. (B X2)
