Trip price is split into two components: £2295 plus US$1180 local payment (paid direct to your Tour Leader when you join the trip).

Brief Itinerary

Please note that our itineraries are not set in stone and can be subject to change.

Days 1 to 4


  • Depart Nairobi – cross the Equator and drive down into The Great Rift Valley.
  • Lake Naivasha & Elsamere – the home of Joy Adamson & Elsa the lion, of Born Free fame, as well as cream teas!
  • Visit either Crater Lake Game Sanctuary or Hells Gate National Park (hire mountain bikes or walk through – the only park in Kenya where this is permitted).
  • Lake Nakuru National Park – including game drives to spot lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, giraffe, zebra, gazelle & flamingo.

Days 5 to 10


  • Jinja – the source of the Nile, whitewater rafting, quad biking or visit a local education project.
  • Kampala –  take a city tour of Uganda’s Capital.
  • Lake Bunyonyi – a chance to see a school for orphans or a pygmy village.
  • Mountain Gorilla trek – Trek to see these amazing creatures, the closest species related to man.

Days 11 to 13


  • Musanze – small friendly, Rwandan town.
  • Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Days 14 to 19


  • Southern shores of Lake Victoria – visit the bustling lively towns of Mwanza or Musoma.
  • Maasai Mara safari – 2 game drives in this famous national park.
  • Nairobi.

Day 20

  • Nairobi – Get up close and personal to some of nature’s graceful giants when we visit a Giraffe Centre.  There is also the option to visit the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage.

Days 21 to 28


  • Depart Nairobi and cross the Athi Plains.
  • Arusha – our base for the next few days.
  • Serengeti National Park and Ngorongoro Crater Reserve – take an optional jeep safari into the Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti to spot lion, cheetah,  leopard, zebra, elephant, hippos, wildebeest, giraffe, and gazelle.
  • Maasai Village walk – an option back at our campsite in Arusha.
  • Marangu – Foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro – you have the opportunity to hike up to Base camp, or walk through the pleasant surroundings visiting waterfalls and rivers in the area.
  • Dar Es Salaam.

Days 29 to 32

  • Zanzibar Island – The original and mystical ‘spice’ island. Take a tour of Stone Town, learn about the various spices, then venture to the north of the island for a few days. Swim with dolphins, sunbathe on amazing white sandy beaches, indulge in various water sports including snorkelling and scuba diving.

Days 33 to 35

  • Mikumi National Park – spot from the roadside, giraffe, zebra, elephant and buffalo.

Malawi – the warm heart of Africa.

Days 36 to 41

  • Lake Malawi – stop at several campsites where you can swim & chill on the lake. Learn to horse ride, scuba dive or try your hand at windsurfing amongst other water sports. Wander the local crafts markets and village before indulging in a spit roast dinner if we are lucky!
  • Lilongwe, the capital.

Mozambique – travel along the Tete corridor.

  • Harare, the capital.

Days 42 to 47


  • Eastern Highlands – Chimanimani National Park – an opportunity to hike through this vast mountain wilderness area bordering Mozambique or visit Bridal Veil Falls, enjoy the surrounding scenery from this sleepy village.
  • A privately run game ranch, where you can go game viewing on horse back makes for a very different experience!
  • Great Zimbabwe Ruins – a Shona village, from where the name ‘Zimbabwe’ is derived.

Days 48 to 53

  • Bulawayo – the second largest city in the country.
  • Matobo National Park – an optional safari with a difference! Allowing you to game walk to get up close and see the elusive Black Rhino.
  • Cecil Rhodes’ Grave & Ancient Rock Paintings.
  • Included overnight train journey between Bulawayo and Victoria Falls
  • Victoria Falls – view these spectacular falls from Zimbabwe or Zambia, and try your hand at grade 5 whitewater rafting, and kayaking trips. Something for all – Flight of Angels (microlite or helicopter), sunset cruises, gorge swing, abseil, bungy jump, jet boating and more! – Adrenaline Heaven.

Days 54 to 65


  • Chobe National Park – river game cruise
  • Okavango Delta – 1 night mokoro canoe trip on the delta to spot elephant, crocodile, hippo, buffalo, zebra plus more.


  • Etosha National Park – game drive by day & relax at floodlit water holes by night to spot rhino, elephant, giraffe, lion, leopard, buffalo amongst a horde of other wildlife.
  • Cheetah park – an up close and personal experience with these amazing cats.
  • Brandberg Mountains in Demaraland.

Days 66 to 70

  • Cape Cross seal colony
  • Spitzkoppe rock formations
  • Swakopmund – deep sea fishing, quad biking, dune sledding, tandem sky diving, horse riding, desert flights.

Days 71 to 75

  • Namib-Naukluft Park
  • Sossusvlei – the world’s highest dunes!
  • Fish River Canyon – Africa’s Grand Canyon!

South Africa

  • Cape Town – home to Table Mountain, the beautiful waterfront and the end of your epic African adventure!
