Tour Itinerary

Day 1-2

Leave the New York area and travel to Philadelphia where you can climb the famous 'Rocky' steps for your own movie moment, and see the iconic symbol of American independence, the Liberty Bell. Head to Reading Terminal Market on an empty stomach and be prepared to be overwhelmed with delicious smells and flavours. Before you leave make sure you tuck into a famous Philly cheesesteak lunch. Then it's on to Washington DC for an introduction to the political, social and cultural history of the USA. Take time to explore America's capital city by people watching in one of the many green parks, discovering the famous monuments or exploring the Smithsonian National Museums. There’s plenty of trendy neighbourhoods to check out by night, head to Dupont Circle for its celebrated nightlife or get down to Georgetown for cool bars and eateries.

Day 3

Touch down in the gorgeous pine-clad foothills of the Appalachian Mountain range. The scenery is beautiful and it’s also home to the American Black Bear and a former haunt of the Cherokee Indians.

Day 4-5

Up next it’s Nashville, Tennessee - the shining star of the country music scene. You've seen the hit TV show, now experience it for yourself. Laze in the city's parks, hit the museums, hear live music in one of the many Broadway bars or learn to line dance - the opportunities are endless!

Day 6

Memphis is the birthplace of rock ‘n’ roll, and you won't want to miss out on an included visit to Sun Studio, where the likes of Johnny Cash and BB King recorded some of their most famous records, and for blues music around every corner, head to Beale Street. You won't want to go home without a trip to Graceland, the former home of 'The King of rock ‘n’ roll', Elvis Presley. If you're wanting a little more than just some bluesy beats from your trip to Memphis, there’s much more to the city’s history. Pay a visit to the National Civil Rights Museum located in the former Lorraine Hotel and see the place where Martin Luther King was assassinated.

Day 7-8

You're well and truly in America's Deep South, so embrace those laid-back vibes because life moves at a much slower pace here - New Orleans is known as the 'Big Easy' after all. Why not spice up your trip with lip-smacking Cajun and Creole fare, ride a steamboat on the Mississippi River or relax to the sounds of Dixieland jazz in the French Quarter. People watch over deep fried beignets at Café du Monde, or for a really authentic Southern experience check out a ‘Voodoo and Graveyard’ tour! When the sun goes down, check out the jazz clubs of Frenchmen Street, hear the real deal in Preservation Hall, or head for the notorious nightlife of Bourbon Street. Whatever you choose, you'll have a blast.

Day 9-10

Opt for a swamp tour into the alligator habitat of southern Louisiana and see all sorts of wildlife in the mysterious wetlands of Cajun country. Then the ‘Lone Star State’ bids you a big-hearted welcome! Austin is packed with big ‘Texas-sized’ excitement and is sure to impress. It’s been proclaimed as the ‘live music capital of the world’ and it’s also home to some truly great BBQ!

Day 11-12

San Angelo offers the chance to visit the impressive Fort Concho, just one of the many historic landmarks you'll see on this trip. You can also take a step back in time and visit Miss Hattie's Bordello Museum, a former brothel. Then depart the largest state and head into New Mexico and Carlsbad Caverns National Park, to explore one of the largest and oldest cave systems in the world. Gnarled limestone stalactites hang from the ceiling like icicles and stalagmites, creating a unique experience for all who walk through this incredible place.

Day 13

With 325 days of sunshine per year plus some of the best Tex-Mex food in the USA, Santa Fe won't disappoint. For all the art lovers out there, visit Canyon Road which is home to art galleries, cultural treasures such as hand-woven Navajo rugs, historic adobe buildings and a vibrant restaurant scene. Head over to Meow Wolf, for a wonderfully weird immersive art experience set in a nondescript building, bound to leave you totally baffled.

Day 14

You’re on the road again, and you’re off to one of North America's most iconic landscapes. Hollywood has helped put this place on travel bucket lists the world over. You may recognise Monument Valley from countless Western movies, or from the movie ‘Forrest Gump’! Immerse yourself in the native culture on an optional guided jeep tour of the Navajo Reservation and backroads, hear your Navajo hosts speak in their native tongue and be blown away by their warm hospitality. Marvel at the sight of towering buttes and mesas which dominate the awe-inspiring landscape during the day, and the vast blanket of stars overhead when the sun goes down.

Day 15-16

Make your way to the mighty Grand Canyon National Park. Nothing you've ever seen before will prepare you for this spectacular sight, it will simply take your breath away. Hike from the forest above to the desert below, or take an optional helicopter flight for the ultimate bird's-eye view and marvel at the brilliant colours from overhead. With lookout points aptly named ‘Ooh Aah Point’ you know you're in for a real treat. To really see the Grand Canyon in all its glory, wait for sunset or sunrise when the colours really do amaze!

Day 17-18

En route to Las Vegas you'll drive along a section of Historic Route 66, stopping at the town of Seligman, joyfully frozen in time and full of quirky Americana. Grab a root beer and have a look around! Next it’s on to ‘Sin City’ itself - and there’s nowhere else on earth quite like it! Feel like a celeb on an included party bus and then treat yourself to a show, indulge in an all-you-can-eat buffet, or just watch the amazing crowds and neon signs as the glitzy hotels try to outdo each other with spectacular attractions. If that's not enough, you can always take an optional helicopter flight down The Strip. If you're still left wanting more, head on over to a chapel and get hitched by the one and only Elvis. Don't worry, it's not legally binding, but the folks back home don't know that, so just imagine their surprise!

Day 19-20

Head to San Diego where it's all about bronzed bodies, big shades and baggy shorts. Visit the famous San Diego Zoo with over 3,000 animals or simply laze in grassy Balboa Park. It's time to top up your tan with a trip to Mission Beach, one of the nicest beaches on the West Coast. Try a spot of roller blading, or perhaps take to the surf. Later, tackle the Gaslamp Quarter at the heart of San Diego's nightlife, and watch the Californian sun set on the penultimate day of your American adventure.

Day 21

The final leg of your journey takes you up the coast to the 'City of Angels', but it's not over just yet! With the California sunshine on your face, visit Hollywood Boulevard for a stroll along the Walk of Fame and grab yourself a photo of that massive Hollywood sign that you've only ever seen on the big screen. You now have 21 days of action-packed memories to take away with you. And that's a wrap! This tour ends at approximately 17:00 hrs. We can book you post tour accommodation at our gateway hotel if required. If you are planning to fly tonight, please do not book a flight that departs before 21:00 hrs.
